INTRODUCTION

Dr. Tung Huu Nguyen, M.D. specializes in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.  His clinical areas of interests include heart failure, coronary artery disease, and valvular disorders. Dr. Nguyen obtained his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his medical degree from Vanderbilt University. 

Dr. Nguyen’s goal as a Cardiologist is to achieve the best results by applying a personalized approach to patient care. He works closely with primary care providers and other specialists to formulate individualized treatment plans that address the specific needs of each patient. Because Dr. Nguyen is credentialed to see patients at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center he is able to follow his patients throughout their course of treatment. He gives each patient the same amount of care and attention as he would give to his own friends and family.

We offer outpatient consultations for many cardiac conditions  and symptoms including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, chest pain, dyspnea, edema, heart attack, heart failure,  palpitations, pre-op, heart failure, pacemaker/ICD interrogation, shortness of breath, etc.

We offer a variety of cardiac diagnostic services in our office including EKG, stress test (treadmill stress test, stress echocardiogram, nuclear stress test), 24 hr holter monitor, 7 day patch monitor, ankle brachial index, arterial duplex, venous duplex, carotid duplex,  and echocardiography.

Dr. Tung Huu Nguyen is credentialed to see patients at Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center and Fountain Valley Regional Hospital. If you are admitted to these hospitals and would like a consultation from Dr. Nguyen, please let your attending physician or ER physician know.

1. What is the difference between an HMO and a Medical Group?

When you join an HMO health plan, you will also need to select a medical group or be assigned a medical group that accepts your HMO health plan. Within that medical group, you will select a primary care provider (PCP) who will direct your care and refer you to a specialist within that medical group when needed. For example, Astiva HMO has over 25 medical groups that accepts their health plan. If you join Astiva and select a medical group such as ADOC, AMVI Medical Group, ChoiceOne IPA, MediChoice IPA, Noble AMA Select IPA, Physician Healthcare Integration, or Regal Medical Group, your PCP can refer you to see Dr. Tung Nguyen.
